Central Scotland Documentary Film Festival

  • University of Stirling Stirling, Scotland, FK9 4LA United Kingdom (map)

Now in its 4th year, The Central Scotland Documentary Festival celebrates creative documentary and non-fiction filmmaking from Thursday 28 October until Monday 1 November. Curated and presented by Macrobert, it’s a fitting tribute to the city of Stirling, which is the birthplace of John Grierson, the ‘father of documentary’. Over five days, the Festival will showcase 21 films, comprising 1 world, 3 European, 5 UK, 2 Scottish Premieres and some of the best documentaries from festivals seen throughout the year.

The 2021 Festival will see a new addition to the programme. For the first time, the Central Scotland Documentary Festival has invited documentary and non-fiction filmmakers to submit their work. Over 50 entries from 23 countries from all corners of the globe were received, with a selection committee narrowing the films down to 12 Official Selections. The films now vie for two awards - The Jury Award, selected by an independent panel of industry and academic judges comprising [Ece Ger, Kate Smith, Murdoch Rodgers and David Rolinson] and The Audience Award, to be voted for by the attendees of CSDF 2021.
